USPS Delivers to the App Store

The United States Postal Service plays an important role in driving our country. Large and small businesses still depend a great deal on it, as well as millions of ordinary people. The USPS delivers over 600 million pieces of mail daily to over 140 million delivery points. It is the third largest employer in the United States. Recently, the Postal Service has developed an app that most users can find very helpful called USPS Mobile®.

Here is one example of what you can do: Let’s say you purchased an item from eBay and want to keep track of the delivery progress. Simply enter the tracking number and get an instant status report on your item. Each tracking number can be saved so there is no need to enter those numbers each time.

Hold Mail Service

Another example is when you are planning a vacation and will be away from home. Use the Hold Mail Service feature to schedule the dates you need your mail held. Fill out the form with your name, address, phone number and email. Don’t worry, there are security measures in place for your protection.

Zip Code Look Up

Did you ever want to mail a letter to someone and felt frustrated you couldn’t mail it because you didn’t have the zip code? That’s not a problem any more with the USPS Mobile app. There are two different ways to look up a zip code: The first is by entering the address, city and state to find the specific zip for that address. Another is entering just the city and state to find zip codes for that particular city. You can also enter a zip code to find what city it is for.

Next Day Pickup

Having a small business just got easier with the Next Day Pickup feature. If you do not have the time to drop off your items at the post office, let them come to you and pick it up for you! Fill out the form with your name and address, including where the items will be (at the front door, back door, office, mail room, etc.), and how many items you have to be picked up. Scheduled pickups can be made up to 90 days in advance.

The postal rate calculator is a very useful tool to have if you’re not sure of how much postage to use. Enter the zip codes you are shipping ‘from’ and ‘to’, then select the shape of the item from the drop down menu. This is a popular feature that most small businesses such as eBay sellers like to have.

You can’t go wrong with USPS Mobile app. It’s like having a post office right in your back pocket. Most users should welcome having an app that has features such as track and confirm, mail pickup, zip code look-up, price calculator, post office location finder and hold mail service. There may be times when you don’t use it but when the need comes, you know it’s there at your fingertips. And best of all it’s free!
